Highland Dance Competition


The Scotland County Highland Games is proud to include Highland Dance competitions as part of our event on Saturday. It is always a treat to see the precision and beauty of these dances performed by dancers of all ages and from throughout the United States (and sometimes Canada) who compete at our event. All dancing events are sanctioned by and conducted under the rules and regulations of SCOTDANCE USA.

  • Primary (Age 4-6) - Pas de Basques (PDB), PDB & High Cuts, Fling, Sword
  • Beginner (Age 7 and up) - Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Truibhas, Flora
  • Novice - Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Truibhas, Flora
  • Intermediate - Fling, Sword Dance, Seann Truibhas, Flora
  • Premier - Earl of Errol (4 steps), Scotch Measure (4 steps) , Lilt (4 steps), Sailor's Hornpipe (5 steps)

Music and Dance

Welcome to the 2022 Music and Dance Page. We hope to build on our historic success in making the pipe band, individual piping and drumming, and dance competitions one of the highlights of the Scotland County Highland Games.

Pipe Band Competition


The Scotland County Highland Games will serve as the Eastern US Pipe Band Association Southern Branch Championships for Grade IV and Grade V. A Grade III band competition is also offered. 


All competitions will be held under the rules and regulations of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association.


Travel Assistance is offered to the first 12 bands entered. Bands from as far away as Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and both Carolinas have already entered for 2022.


Two performances of the massed pipe bands will be held during the day for opening and closing ceremonies – a not-to-be missed spectacle! To register a pipe band for competition please CLICK HERE.

Individual Piping and Drumming Competition


Amateur Solo competitions in piping, snare drumming and tenor and bass drumming is also offered. All competitors must be members of the EUSPBA or other affiliated society.
